Join the Aboriginal Advisory Council of Western Australia

Expressions of interest (EOI) are open for the Aboriginal Advisory Council of WA, and Aboriginal leaders are invited to apply. Member selection will reflect diversity of regions, gender, age, and institutional backgrounds.

The advisory body was established under the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972. It aims to build genuine, respectful, and reciprocal relationships between Aboriginal people and the State Government, to achieve better economic, social, and cultural outcomes for Aboriginal people living in Western Australia.

The council discusses important matters such as the key causes of vulnerability experienced by young people and children, justice reform, accountability, and advocacy in Aboriginal affairs, Closing the gap, child protection reform, and a homelessness strategy.

EOI applications close at 8:00pm on Monday, 18 March 2024.
