The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council appoints its first female Noongar Chief Executive Officer

Ms Vanessa Kickett has been appointed as the first female Noongar Chief Executive Officer of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC).

A proud Noongar woman with more than 20 years of leadership, business development and community and stakeholder engagement, Ms Kickett has a long history in supporting and advocating for Noongar people.

In 2021, SWALSC became the Central Services Corporation and supported six Noongar regional corporations in their journey to endorsement. Ms Kickett has been instrumental in implementing the South West Native Title Settlement, and establishing the regional corporations, and the Central Services Corporation.

The Central Services Corporation are delivering a range of administrative, corporate, financial, and unique services to the regional corporations.

“I am deeply honoured to be trusted by the Board in the appointment of Chief Executive Officer for SWALSC as the Central Services Corporation, to continue the important work to support and inspire a strong and unified Noongar Nation,” said Ms Kickett.

“Our focus now is to strive to deliver exceptional services to the newly established regional corporations.”

The Board appointed Ms Kickett, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and former Board member, to a three-year term as SWALSC Chief Executive Officer.

“The Board has a high regard for Vanessa’s leadership, deep cultural knowledge, ongoing dedication, and commitment to the Noongar community, and has made this appointment at a critical time in the Settlement’s implementation,” said Mr Brendan Moore, SWALSC Chair.

“We are proud to have an inspirational, admirable and highly respected first Noongar woman leading SWALSC as the Central Services Corporation.”
