This September we are celebrating National Biodiversity Month.
In our South West corner, Noongar boodja and its surrounding areas are considered globally as one of 36 biodiversity hotspots.
More than 5,000 of our incredible native plants aren’t found anywhere else in the world, such as the Kangaroo Paw – which features on our state emblem – and many Banksia varieties.
National Biodiversity Month reminds us to consider how we connect and care for our unique natural systems. Through the Noongar Ranger Program and co-operative and joint management of the South West Conservation Estate, Noongars continue to care for boodja, and have done for thousands of years.
You can find resources for how to get involved on the Australian Government website.
