In June 2022, the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) was endorsed by the WA Government and Trustee as the Central Services Corporation to support the six Regional Corporations.
As the Regional Corporations are established and operating, SWALSC needs a new identity to reflect our changed purpose and functions.
We are inviting SWALSC members to help us identify our new name.

Frequently asked questions
-
SWALSC is the Central Services Corporation for the South West Native Title Settlement (the Settlement) – the largest native title settlement in Australian history.
Prior to the commencement of the Settlement, for many years SWALSC was the native title service provider for the South West of WA – the Noongar region.
SWALSC as the Central Services Corporation provides a range of core administrative, corporate, financial, and unique services to the Regional Corporations (i.e. human resources, finance, IT, membership etc.), as stated in the Noongar Boodja Trust deed.
The Central Services Corporation provides services to the broader Noongar community including conducting research into Noongar traditional lands and customs, and being an advocate for the Noongar Nation.
-
The six Regional Corporations represent their Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUA) groups across approximately 200,000 square kilometres in Western Australia's south west.
The Regional Corporations deliver services to their Noongar communities by managing and caring for cultural land and waters; maintaining, protecting, and promoting their unique culture, customs, and traditions; engaging with relevant stakeholders; identifying economic development opportunities, and working towards the overall benefit of our Noongar people.
Each corporation is guided by a member-elected Board and a Cultural Advice Committee. Cultural Advice Committees advise the Board on cultural decisions regarding land, heritage, and cultural matters.

Our new brand needs to reflect who we are, what we do, and where we are going. It should align with our mission: To support and inspire a strong and unified Noongar Nation.
Our new name should represent forever, unity, and a way forward for us all.
