The Role:

We are seeking a thought leader to fill the position of Manager Aboriginal Engagement.  This is a new position for the State Library and will play a pivotal role in ensuring library services, spaces, collections and programs are community-informed, culturally safe, well-utilised and highly valued by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 

This role provides high-level advice, guidance and thought leadership to the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive team on current matters and trends in relation to reconciliation initiatives and relationships with Aboriginal communities, cultural protocols, and strategic priorities.

Our ideal applicant will have sound knowledge of Aboriginal history and culture and an understanding of the issues and barriers to access for Aboriginal people in relation to the State Library. An ability to work and partner effectively with Aboriginal people and communities, and to lead and motivate library staff will be highly regarded.
